What an infinity pool actually is

An infinity (or overflow) pool has one or more edges where water flows over a wall into a hidden catch basin, then is pumped back. The effect is a vanishing edge that blends the water with the view. It is the catch basin and extra plumbing, not magic, that create the look.

Why they suit Mallorca

The island is full of elevated, sea-view and hillside plots, which is exactly where an infinity edge shines. Pointed at the Mediterranean or the Tramuntana mountains, the effect is hard to beat and adds real value to a property.

What they cost

Expect a meaningful premium over a standard pool. The vanishing edge needs extra engineering, a catch basin, stronger pumps and precise levelling, often adding €10,000 to €20,000 or more on top of the base pool. Almost all infinity pools are concrete, for the design freedom and strength involved.

Site and design requirements

Infinity pools work best where there is a drop or a view to fall towards. The ground and structure must be engineered carefully, which is why this is firmly a job for an experienced builder.
