How long does it take to build a pool in Mallorca?
If you want to be swimming by summer, timing matters. So how long does it actually take to build a pool in Mallorca? Here is a realistic timeline from first enquiry to first swim.
The short answer
Once permits are in hand, building a concrete pool usually takes around 4 to 8 weeks of on-site work. Fibreglass pools are faster, often a week or two to install. The part people underestimate is everything before the build: design, quotes and especially permits, which can add weeks or months.
Stage by stage
- Design and quotes (1 to 3 weeks). Share your plot and ideas, compare quotes, choose a builder.
- Permits (a few weeks to a few months). The town hall licence, with timing that varies by municipality and land type.
- Excavation and structure (1 to 3 weeks). Digging, shaping and the concrete shell.
- Finishing (2 to 4 weeks). Tiling or rendering, coping, equipment, filling and commissioning.
What can cause delays
Permits are the usual one. Difficult access, rock, weather and high-season demand can all add time. A good builder gives you a realistic schedule and keeps you updated.
Plan around the season
Builders are busiest in spring. If you want to swim in July, start the conversation over winter so the permit and build land in time. Use our cost calculator to plan, then request a quote from vetted local builders early.
