When grout gives up
Grout is the sacrificial part of a tiled pool. After years of chemistry and sun it turns porous, algae settles into the joints, edges feel rough and eventually tiles start letting go. Regrouting at the right time is far cheaper than retiling too late, and on Mallorca most tiled pools need it after 10 to 15 years.
How regrouting is done
The old grout is raked out mechanically, joints are cleaned and the pool is regrouted with cement based or epoxy grout. Epoxy costs more but resists chemicals and stains far longer, a common choice for saltwater pools. Loose tiles are rebedded in the same visit.
Regrout or retile
